The main characters in the serie: "How I meet your mother" are considered white in US?
I'm from Spain, and I have recently read a lot of questions about if we are white or not, as there are people who think we are not, so it makes me think that probably you have a different criteria from us, and now when I watch series with people very similar to us, I think that they may not be considered white.
The main characters in this serie are brunette or brown haired, and not very pale, and if they came to Spain, they could pass as native Spaniards.
Probably the only one considered white is Bartney.
@Deji - I think it should not be so important, and all the races are the same, we have a mixed background because our history, but I don't understand why there are so many questions about if we are white or not, and that made me think that probably in US only blonde and pale people are considered white.
Anyway, the main characters in this serie must have a mixed background too, as they are very similar to most of us.

Yes. I know what you mean.
Some people at this section are kind of crazy.
But Americans always had a very peculiar sense about "whiteness".

Pretty much all Spanish / Portuguese / Italian / Greeks / Serbians / Whatever people are White Europeans or Mediterraneans sometimes mixed with some North African Berber who are actually also of European origin proved by recent genetic research or Arab / Persian or even some Black African thrown in there too as much as many other than the recently mixed families do not like to have said.
But yes overwhelmingly most Europeans are actually just European, you can look up the population figures by ethnicity for most countries bar Greece which are the only ones who seem to recognize there is no such thing as separate human races and say everyone is Greek no matter what, despite the rise of far right movement there.
Move out of Europe though and you can rightly suspect the genetic background of many famous White people and non famous ones.

There is no real definition of who is considered white or not, it is rather arbitrary. Using skin color as a means of determining race is not exact by any means. not doubt some would think of those Spaniards with darker, more olive skin as white, some would not, and a great many would probably not even think about the question.
I suppose many racists would not think of Greeks, Spaniards, Italians, etc, as white, but for instance, if I was asked to describe someone, say to the police or some third party, I would likely use the descriptor olive skinned or dark skinned. White is not actually a race, just part of a description

Yes. The actors/actresses who play Ted, Lily, Barney, Marshall, Ted's wife and Robin are all considered white. For example, some on here say Italian are not white but the actress who plays Ted's wife, Cristin Milioti is Italian and she is seen as white in America.

Basically 'white' for all means and purposes - although based on the names it sounds like some are Jewish.
I don't watch the show, the only actor I recognize is Neil Patrick Harris (i.e. Doogie Houser MD).
