Bird/Insect that sounds like a Geiger counter?
I live in middle Virginia, and for the last week, I've been hearing an animal/insect in my yard that counts like a loud Geiger counter.
More precisely, it sounds like one of these:

One of those frog-shaped percussion instruments that makes a clicking sound when you run a mallet over its ridges.
It's not a marsh wren (which is what pops up in Google searches), and it's too small to be a starling. I can't find it anywhere when I try to identify the source of the sound.
What the heck am I hearing?
It isn't a cicada. I went and listened to sound clips of every species in my area just to make sure. It's not a constant buzzing, hum, or drone, and lacks the electronic quality of a cicada call. It sounds exactly like this:

It's fast a few times, then slow, then fast again, in a very deliberate pattern that's much more akin to a bird call than an insect.

I'm thinking maybe it isn't a coincidence that your toy that makes the noise you are hearing is shaped like a frog! Maybe the call of a Cricket frog?
