How will a perm effect my straight healthy hair?

I have straight, decently well kept hair..(it's not perf, but a lot of girls would kill to have the moisture my hair holds) anyway..I LOVE styling it in tight kinky curls! (I use about a half-inch curling iron)..but it takes me 3 HOURS to style! And it only lasts me 2 days..everyone loves my hair styled that way..and I obviously love it but I rarely ever do it because of the time it takes to do..so I've been considering getting a perm. But the more I look into the more I find out how much damage it cause to the hair..that's not necessarily my concern..I'm just scared that my hair will forever be dry and nappy. So my question is, will I be able to get my hair back to its natural state when the perm has died down? Or will I ruin my hair for life? Also if there are ways to keep my hair healthy after the perm I would LOVE to know any tips or remedies you might know of. (No rude answers) Please and thank you!

Don't get one, sure it'll be cute for a week and then the curls will look ugly and not attractive. My friend got one and the it faded and now the curls are not cute and she has to straighten her every day for an hour to look good, trust me DO NOT GET A PERM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A perm is pretty drying on hair. Perm solution now is different than it was 10 years ago so peoples experiences may be different. You can do conditioning treatments after a few days to make it softer. Just remember if you're looking to do a tight perm that it will grow out and you'll need to retouch it up after a few months. The growing out of a perm doesn't look good.
