Whats the legal situation regarding Gym members and car parks?
I was visiting my local gym last week and another member of the same gym pulled of a side junction within the car park whilst using his mobile phone and then proceeded to follow me in his vehicle making threats 3 times. I reported this to the manager who claimed that even though members committing criminal offences are banned he claimed that because it occurred on the car park it was not part of the premises and was the responsibility of the building management company.
I have already cancelled my membership but advice please.

If the gym owns the car park, then it could be their responsibility. But, based on their response, it sounds like they are renting their spot from the building management company, so they would not own the car park, and, as you were told, is not their responsibility.
I don't know why you cancelled your membership, but if you plan to cancel it at any gym that will not help you out in situations they have no responsibility for, you will end up not having any gyms to go to any more.
