Banks in Mexico can be very fussy with checks and more so with foreign checks.

If the name and the signature do not match (i.e. Account holder is "David Smith" but the check is signed "Dave Smith") the might refuse it.

I know a person who left post dated checks to pay staff and returned north. The bank refused every one of them because the amount on the check was written using a line after the written amount. The sort of line you use to prevent someone from altering the amount (like this: "One hundred dollars --------------------" ).

I do think that many Mexican bank employees are afraid to accept a check so you really have to give then absolutely no reason to reject it.

    Good luck - I like GulfportBob's idea.

When I lived there, I deposited a check in my Mexican Bank account, and it took 6 months to clear and for me to get my money.

Some banks in the U.S.A. allow you to use an IPhone and take a picture and deposit it that way, it only takes one day. You would have to check with your bank about that.
