I'm a Christian and I definitely do not believe that the universe is only four thousand years old. However, I do believe in the Bible's creation account.
Many people claim that science disproves the Bible’s account of creation. But the real contradiction is between science and, not the Bible, but the opinions of so-called Christian Fundamentalists. Some of these groups falsely assert that according to the Bible, all physical creation was produced in six 24-hour days some 10,000 years ago.
The Bible, however, does not support such a fallacy. If it did, then many scientific discoveries over the past hundred years would indeed discredit the Bible. A careful study of the Bible text reveals no conflict with established scientific facts.

No Christian believes that. And the Bible simply does not state how old the universe is.
After the Earth has been created by God, then come details of six creative time periods called days. Even if a Christian took those to be literal, 24-hour Earth days, that still would not tell them how old the universe is. There are some Christians who think the Earth is 6,000 years old, yet even so, that is not the same as saying the universe is 6,000 years old. But most Christians have no problem with an ancient Earth and an even more ancient Universe. The term 'days' in Genesis can be shown to often mean 24-hour Earth days, but at other times they mean an unspecified time period, or all 6 days of Creation are lumped together and spoken of as one day.

Nope. And being aware of where that calculation came from helps me to know that it wasn't a very good or successful attempt to come up with the age of the universe.
It's a tradition with some Christians, and traditions die hard. I have personally found that the Bible does not tell us how old the earth is.

I believe that the Bible is written from God's perspective regarding the creation account, since He is the only intelligent being involved - up until man arrives. The Bible states, "a day with the Lord is as a thousand years", the quantity "thousand" being a metaphor. Otherwise, it could easily have been a billion. Once man arrived, the perspective changed to counting years in detail as shown by the genealogies.

Not all Christians do. Most Christians, including myself, understand the universe is 13 billion years old (the earth is close to 5).

Biblical Creationism - The God of the Bible created the different “kinds” of plants and animals to reproduce after their kind (often called “baraminology”; baramin is the Hebrew word for “created kind”). They have great variability and adaptability, but they are still dogs and frogs and bacteria, etc. And there is old earth creationism (the earth is billions of years old) and young earth creationism (the earth is less than 10,000 years old). Creationists typically believe the creation has been tainted by the curse (Genesis 3) and is in a state of progressive degeneration.

Canis Major Overdensity is the closest galaxy to our Milky Way. It is 25000 light years away. The Andromeda Galaxy is about two million light years away. The farthest galaxy we can detect is over 13 billion light years away.
If we assume that the world is less old that that, then where does the light from the stars in those galaxies come from?

Time is a paradigm based on celestial moments - It is a construct invented by the logicians brain.
So how old are we again?

If we know how old the earth is based on some logically derived language (A story we told ourselves), we can't have done because there are planets older that the earth - Do let us know when you reach the edge of the preserve won't you.
