Why do some Christians think you need to know when you were saved?

I'm a Christian. I was raised a Christian. There has never been a time in my life I didn't have a relationship with the Lord. I'm not alone, others have had the same relationship with God, a former pastor of mine said the same thing. It offends me that some believers insist that I had a date of salvation, and that a child cannot accept or reject God in a mature manner.

I don't believe in the Believer's Baptism (i.e. Baptist view), so is this a thing among believers like Baptists? Just curious what others think.

As an ex-Roman Catholic, turned Born Again Bible Believing Christian, I do believe a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, is exactly what it says, a personal relationship.

You cannot judge me based on when I accepted Christ, into my heart, neither can I do the same.

I have to trust you, and trust God, that when you say, you know God, that is what I am supposed to believe.

It is not my business to judge others, when they can only take me at my word, the same way I take them at their word.

God alone knows the heart of someone, and it is presumptious for someone to think, they know the heart and mind of someone, then they are placing themselves in the spot to judge others, as though they were God.

I think it is just like a Scribe and Pharisee spirit, kind of thing, and can be dangerous to presume things only God can.

The Bible Says "Work out your OWN salvation, in fear and trembling, before God," If I am busy working out my salvation, I will not have time to judge others, I would rather pray for them, encourage them, and leave them to God.

By the way there is still "legalism" or the judgmental attitude of pointing fingers at others, which should cease and desist.

you haven't had a any relationship with any "lord" , what you have been taught is based on lies and fictions , there is zero evidence jesus ever existed and all the stories in the bible were written hundreds of years later , the people at that time believed the world was flat and that god lived in heaven just above the clouds and the sun went round the earth , I am sure you don't believe that so why believe anything else they made up

How can you imagine that you have a relationship with someone or some thing that never responds to you, except in your brain, meaning your imagination? It sounds like you have a relationship with yourself, because if you get an answer that you did not think out consciously, it only proves that part of your mind is the unconscious or subconscious, and it can solve problems for you. Calling yourself or your own mind God, is blasphemous, to use the words of your ilk.

It gives them a point of reference like a birth date.

Catholics believe that Baptism marks the start of a Christian, but that one has to preserve to the end to be saved. Catholics also believe that conversion is a life long experience, not just a one time event. Although we can have significant conversion experiences at different times in our lives.

We believe you should know it because when you're a baby, you're not born knowing God. Nobody knows God when they are born. We don't really "insist" you have a date. We belive you should because that's when you're born again and have a new soul. Babies wouldn't really understand. God has a certain time for Jesus to come into our heart. Like mine was June 6 2009. Not everybody's is going to be when they're a baby. We have to personally accept Him and babies aren't able to do that.

I'm a Protestant and I agree with you. People know when they want to be baptized and when to go to church. Just because you don't go to church does not mean you're not a believer in HIM.

You will be surprised by the Bible's answer, Jesus' answer. Matt. 10:22, repeated at 24:13, Only "he who endures TO THE END is the one who will be saved."

End either of Ines life or of this wicked system. The Bible ius full of those who held salvation but who lost out by bad actions. The nation if Israel. Matt. 21:43, Jesus tells Israel "the Kingdom if God will be TAKEN AWAY from you and GIVEN to a nation producing its fruits."

Judas was one of the 12, but most out by betraying Jesus. Paul started at 1 Corin. 10:13 to, "beware those who are standing, do not fall". Standing in line for salvation, do not fall away from it. Or at Philip. 3:12-14, Paul was not saved at the height of his abilities, but worked towards it. Are any today BETTER than Paul???

No one us saved until they are finished in Satan's system. Either by death or after Satan's system is destroyed at Armageddon.

Tell me why... what it is that makes you think... you are "saved".... nothing you posted indicates that you are.... if you can not tell me..... you are not..... NO ONE is born a Christian... no one can be raised to be a Christian.... and only those God deems accountable will be called........ of what church are you a part of.... if you do not know the answers to the two questions I ask... with absolute certainty.. and can not state it with Absolute certainty.. you have yet to come to God in The Way He prescribes... and you are not "saved".....if you are offended by my post... you are not saved.......

The Way remains open to you
