Why do so many young men try to size up to you if your physically built?

I was lucky to be born with looks and doing boxing all my life I'm quite built and for a long time ive always had a problem where I'm seen as some sort of competition as almost every time I go into public I get douchbags make eye contact with me try to size up like im some sort of competition, like straightening up trying to look bigger, on rare occasions try to fight me or be nasty to me even my Best friends gf noticed this when with me today, Ive had guys catch their gf looking at me and try fight me for it lol.

Is it insecurity? something primitive? I know a number of guys want to be big to fill their ego, but would be nice to go for a walk or go to go to KFC and not have a dick comparing to me from the corner when im trying to eat and have fun with friends especially when I consider myself a friendly person. I hate to admit it makes me feel uncomfortable.

It's true, most men don't admit to having envy for other men's "attributes" like most women would; but in reality, they do. All men obviously have testosterone, which in the animal kingdom, for example, bucks will go head to head to attract females, that's just how it is. Men also feel like they have to defend their pride in order to impress a woman, or to better there self-esteem. It's part of human nature for them to act that way, the least I can say is at least you can back it up right?

Yea, its uncomfortable. The thing what you want to do is just be cool about it; stand straight, relaxed, always smile. Once you lose your patience you've lost because these guys want to provoke you and let you down.

Ive had this experience when I was at the cafe, I was walking past this young couple and the guy checking my size and how I look. I could tell he was slightly frowning. The woman was also looking at me but differently, perhaps some interest. Things like this always happen, and when they come at you, intelligence and maturity is priority. 
The thing is, these men are low self esteem, looking for some sort of scapegoat. Just look down at them, ignore and avoid the frying pan.
