Is the use of anabolic steroids correlated to male pattern baldness after subject ceases their use?
My friend ,a weightlifter who used steroids but has since quit is going bald at age 23. Any chance the baldness and steroids are connected?

Alopecia has many forms.
A spot of alopecia - alopecia areata - is transient and recovers in 6 months. Local injections of steroids hasten recovery.
Male type of baldness is treated with arganrain anti hair loss treatment
Alopecia due to fungal infections clears after treatment to the infection.
Other types of alopecia - universalis, totalis etc are not treatable

Depends how long ago he quit and how much he has depressed his natural testosterone.
