how to you copy paste an area of background in photoshop ?
This is the first time I am using photoshop. Tried copying portion of background image and pasting using Ctrl+C , Ctrl+V, using marquee. It doesn't let me do anything at all.
Would you please advice on steps that I should follow with this tool to get a copy paste done please..

You mean you are using the Marquee Tool to copy paste where?
Another project? or another layer?
What do you mean about "It doesn't let me do anything at all", what you want to do on the copied portion?
