Ways to lighten highlighted hair?
My hair color is light brown and I highlighted it yesterday but the color is not as light as id like it to be. I don't have the money to go back to the salon so I was wondering if there is a way to lighten colored hair at home.

Use Marilyn Hair Treatment from Lush Cosmetics, infused with chamomile and lemon for optimal, safe hair lightening. Also use sea spray which contains grapefruit, a citrus juice for gradual lightening.

You could buy a dye that you can use at home from Wal-Mart, or buy Sun In. Lemon juice also works, If you wet your hair down and put the Sun In or Lemon Juice In your hair, then go tan in the sun or just be outside, it works.
Source(s): I've done it before, and my hair appeared much lighter. I currently have my hair dyed blonde right now though. - Anonymous7 years ago
Just don't cut off your hair. Ladies with short hair don't look fashionable, they look pathetic.

If you want to naturally lighten your hair, try lightening it with chamomile tea. Just brew(don't use a metal pot or kettle to brew, it affects the lightening) about 3-4 tea bags of chamomile tea, wait for it to cool off, then put the tea in some kind of spray bottle, and spray your hair until it's pretty wet. Then let it air dry out in the sun for about 30 minutes, or until your hair is dry and it should lighten your hair. :)
