Why are so many people interested in Southern Europeans race?
I'm Spaniard, and I had never thought of my race before reading YA in English. In Spain, people don't talk about it, because we don't really care, but it seems that it's a really important issue for so many people what is our genetic.
I wonder if it changes something, I mean, we are how we are, and are happy being like that, so if you find in our DNA that we have some especific genes, would it mean something? I mean, would we be considered inferior, superior, better, worse, or what?
@Alex- It's not Latin Americans fault, but it's the ignorance of the rest of people, and your posts offend Latin American people. I would like you not to insist so much on the race, as it seems that you're considering them inferior because of that, and it's wrong.
People should be considered by the intelligence, work ethics and talents not by the color of their skin.

According to biology, all modern humans are of the same race, homo sapiens sapiens. There was once another race, homo sapiens neanderthalis that was killed off or died out. Many modern humans still have neanderthal DNA, but are principally sapiens sapiens. When people ask me to identify my race with one letter on a form, I put "H" for human. If they erroneously identify that as Hispanic, that's their problem.
It seems unfortunate to me that there is an organization called La Raza that advocates extreme positions with respect to people with Spanish-speaking heritage.

When I visit Spain, Italy and southern France, I think the best overall description of the people is simply "European." A distinctly different culture than in Latin America.
I once heard a discussion in the US about Hispanic actors. Someone mentioned Penelope Cruz and Antonio Bandaras and someone else said, "They aren't Hispanic, they are Spaniards." That's really silly.
Best regards,

You can thank Attilio Brandi(solider of Italia) and Alex(fake Spaniard dude with no avatar) for all the insults thrown at Southern Europeans.
In real life, I've never heard Mexicans insult Spaniards. It's only this section. No one speaks of Southern Europeans in real life(in America)
People on here argue their genetic because it bothers Attilio, who has admitted he suffers from high blood pressure. He took a break in mid 2012 cause of this. But it's his fault for starting this mess.
Esther is probably the only real Southern European/Spaniard on here. Esther should test Alex to see if he's really Spanish. 2 years ago, there was this "Spaniard" who was tested on the Spanish anthem. He thought there were words to it lol and thought Spaniards said "vos" like Argentineans. What a fail.

One of the biggest trolls on this site is an Italian user who's constantly bashing minorities and claims Southern Europeans are all Aryan looking and racially superior. He responds to virtually every question pertaining to race. But who knows, he could just be an alias by one of this sites many race obsessed trolls.

Well you live in Spain, but in the USA they call LATIN AMERICANS WHO ARE NOT WHITE Spanish and even Spaniard when they are not the same race. They are 100000% confused about Spain in the USA. They think white people don't speak Spanish???? They think Spanish originated in Mexico or something

Southern Europeans just like Northern Europeans, North Africans, Middle Easterners, Central Asians and Northern Indians are all Caucasians they are not different races.

Well, actually, it's almost ALWAYS online, and it's because such questions are guaranteed a highly emotional answer. (Trolls LOVE creating dissension - it's the only way they feel they can get recognized, and apparently it works. I've been guilty of answering such questions, but not as much as some people - they always fall for this - if somebody is named "Death to Italy" - or whatever - and their account was created today, chances are, it's a troll.)

Southern Europeans and North Africans overlap with each other according to some people on a forum site I once saw. So, I am thinking that's why are interested in knowing what race southern Europeans belong to.

Bc it has a deep history and ancient culture. Also its many south Americans on this site wanting to be Spanish etc...why are you on this site? Its an American site and people have many questions especially people from latin America. You are just like them...lol...people post a question and it gets answered. Btw you are in the culture section...go somewhere else if you dont like it.***no alex, hispanics are influenced by Spain doesnt mean they are Spanish. Some might use the word Spanish but we all know they are from mexico or south America etc.

I know what you mean. I am Portuguese and I have never thought some people could be so interested about Southern Europeans.
