Arthur is not yet a hurricane.
The National Hurricane Center shows tropical storm Arthur becoming a hurricane by early Thursday and traveling up the east coast. At this time, the NHC shows Arthur traveling just east of Rhode Island by early Saturday. By then Arthur may weaken and become a tropical storm.

First of, Tropical Storm Authur is not a hurricane yet. It will be a hurricane tonight as it heads towards the NE
And second no, by Friday Authur will curve right. To the Northeast. Here is the path of the storm. You will see heavy rain from the stall front that is coming your way. But Rhode Island can get rip currents from Authur. Not only Rhode Islad but any beaches on the east coast

Tropical Storm Arthur is taking a slow moving northeasterly path and expected to be a hurricane by late Thursday over the Carolinas, its path shows it turning a bit offshore which means the brunt of it will avoid the eastern seaboard. However, keep in mind, its a projected path, with a change in wind direction and weather it could take a much more inland path like Sandy did back in 2012.

Best option is to check the Atlantic weather satellites - give you some warning.
RI Weather link - satellite the lot

Hurricane Arthur via CNN
http://edition.cnn.com/2014/07/01/us/tropical-weat...
at the above link it states that Female named Hurries are more worse than Male named hurries - you know, Hell hath no fury like a woman stormed. . . .
Try and read the advice sections at the CNN link - keeping your cell phone charged and etc. pets etc.
