Please read the following text and kindly answer my questions?

I remembered the time I was in my room when the idea came into my head completely out of the blue that my mother was dead. Right after that there was a telephone call, just like that. It was for John Bennet--my mother was not dead. So I remembered that, in case somebody told me a story that ened the other way.

Now my questions:

(1) what is it meant by '. . ., just like that.',

(1) What is it meant by 'So I remembered that, in case somebody told me a story that ened the other way.'

The expression "just like that" means "very quickly." Many times the speakers will snap their fingers when they say "Just like .... THAT(snap)!" to show how suddenly it happened.

The speaker is telling an anecdote about a time when her premonition failed. She suddenly felt that her mother was dead, but when the phone rang, she found out that it was just imaginary.

So the speaker has decided to remember this coincidence if she ever hears a story that ends the other way -- the intuition was correct.

That one will be just coincidence too -- no magic premonitions.
