Good dystopian ADULT fantasy?

I don't mean pornographic filth like Fifty Shades of Suck. I mean books like the Southern Reach Trilogy. Annihilation and Authority are the best books I've read in ages. Are there any other books similar to those out there? PLEASE do not suggest any teen novels like Hunger Games, Divergent, Twilight, etc. Those ARE NOT what I consider adult oriented dystopia. Also, yes, I've read 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. I was thinking about reading Dark Eden, by Christ Beckett, but it takes place on an alien world as far as I know. Anyone have good suggestions?

(Pern does not count as dystopia. I consider it fantasy, even though Anne does not.)

Dark Eden is pretty good, although it does play a lot with language and takes a bit of adjusting to get the rhythm. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood is a classic dystopia, as is her MaddAddam trilogy. You might also like A Plague of Angels by Sheri S Tepper or The Passage by Justin Cronin. The Newsflesh series by Mira Grant is also interesting. And while they're not dystopian, you might try 14 by Peter Clines or Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Both are similar in some ways to the Southern Reach trilogy, especially 14.

I agree with Rose D in recommending The Handmaid's Tale. Also: A Canticle for Leibowitz; Cloud Atlas (dystopian future combined with other stories); Battle Royale; The Trial; The Wanting Seed; Farenheit 451; A Clockwork Orange; Player Piano; Animal Farm.

Imperial Bedrooms by Brett Easton Ellis

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is always a great read.
