Just starting to "work out", what should I look for?
Background: Haven't worked out really since high school, 21 male about 6'5 around 185 lbs. Athletic, currently playing soccer.
But I just started working out (3rd day) by doing 60 push ups, 60 sit ups, 60 squats (with 2 ten lb weights) and also just 40 reps with them (20 each arm). I do these all in 20 rep sessions take a min break then do the next.
What I want to know how long should I do this until I should start using the gym and doing more? Also! what protein or vitamin should I look for to start taking each day? And what foods should I really avoid? Basically the essentials to working out!
Thanks very much appreciated!!

i would start using the gym now. sounds like you are in good shape, maybe get 4 or 5 personal trainer sessions if you really don't know that much about strength training.. for protein you want to eat i gram of protein for every pound you weigh. so currently you should try to get 185 grams or protein a day. You dont have to use protein shakes if you can get that much from food. Its really just personal preference. Vitamins... everybody should be taking fish oil as far if you ask me. And foods to avoid, junk food. You know what that is. fatty and or sugary food. candy, chips, fast food, cookies ect ect ect. shop on the outside ring of the grocery store, meats, eggs, fruit, veggies, milk, nuts
