Air Force security forces vs infantry (all branches)?
I'm in high school and really have to start thinking about careers in the Military and which branches and so forth. I'm in Civil Air Patrol (a youth Air Force group) for about 2-3 years now and love the Military life that I have experienced. I have always been interested in Air Force Security Forces because of my fathers service in AFSF, and the Air Force in general, but on the other side I grew up watching band of brothers and the Pacific where there are the Hero's of infantry ect... But In my mind they are all considered heros. I want a job that I will not look back at and be disapointed with in a sense. I know Infantry guarenteed combat, and Security Forces work with SOF and Infantry but I'm not joining for combat. I'm joining because of #1 tradition, #2 to make a difference, #3 because that's all I've known, and #4 there is nothing more fascinating to me than the Military. I plan to be a history professor after my service because of my other obsession for WW2. In all seriousness, would It be wise to be in Infantry or AFSF while having a family? Would an AFSF experience much combat if in war? I really don't want to live the rest of my life with no legs. I am absolutely now a combat junkie. I would be willing to take the chance though because I love my country and family. I'm leaning towards AFSF. Should I join AFSF or Infantry? Sorry for writing a book haha I just needed to make the point. Sorry for poor grammer, I writing this on my phone.

Wait. So you wanna see combat and you claim you're a "combat junkie" but you're freaking out about losing your legs? That's combat for you. It seems to me like you want the honor of being in combat, but not the risks. You can't have one without the other.
If you're looking for combat, you're looking at the wrong branch. The Air Force rarely sees combat. And there are no jobs in the Air Force called "infantry". That's the Army you're thinking about.
If you're looking between a battlefield airman (you should be looking into the marines or army if that's what you want) or SF for a family? SF.
