  • What is the ASVAB requirments for Air Force TACP?

Hello. I am 17, and I just a couple days ago started talking to the Air Force recruiter. I am dead set on doing TACP. I have started my applicant case file packet, and hope to start processing ASAP, so I can go to basci next summer. I don't care how hard physically it is. I am in the best shape of my life personally. I run marathons, and am also strong, especially when it comes to calisthenics. I know the physical standards, and will not ask about those, because if I start questioning that, I have already failed. What I want to know is the ASVAB score requirement. I'm very good in any of the Language sections. I scored nearly perfect on them, but the General math and the Arithmetic reasoning section I literally know nothing on. I have a math tutor, and we have been going over it, but it still seems to make no sense. I am good in basically everything else though. What is the score needed for TACP?

  • Army Reserve Combat Engineers?

I am throwing back and forward the idea of joining the Army Reserves as a Combat Engineer, or joining the National Guard as an Infantryman. At the moment, I am leaning towards Combat Engineer because I think it would benefit me more while in at Army ROTC. I have a few questions. Firstly, what do you do at the Drill Weekends? Do you go in the field with all your gear? What are the current chances of getting deployed? I am more than willing to deploy. If deployed, what does an Army Reserves Combat Engineer do? Do they do everything an active duty combat engineer does? Do they go on patrols all geared up and actually engage the enemy? Lastly, do you think this is a good MOS for the Army Reserves? I know this is basically the only Combat job a reservist can have. Is it worth it?

  • Are US Army Reserve units still being deployed?

I'm joining The Armt Reserves this summer as a Combat Engineer and I was wondering if there still deployments. I'm going to be attending Army ROTC sat the same time but obviously won't start contracting until at least my sophomore year, so I am deployable. I think it would be a pretty interesting experience.

  • How does Michael Phelps and other Olympians eat so many calories?

With the games in Rio starting, I was online looking at different facts, and saw that Phelps eats 12k calories a day! I've seen this before, but never really thought about it. I run cross country, and lift weights daily. I have a very healthy diet with one chest day a week. My daily calorie intake is 2800 calories. I COULD eat much more, but I don't want to get fat. I train for about 3 hours a day, and on some days I am rounding up 12-15 miles running (I track my runs). I never feel hungry enough to eat 12 thousand calories, let alone 3500! How does one get used to this? Even if you are training 6 hours a day, I really don't think I could do this. I'm 6'2, 170. Idk what phelps weights, but it can't be to different.

  • United States Air Force?

Hello everyone, I am in High School, and I really want to join the Air Force. I have a few jobs in mind, but I'm not sure how to go about it. My father was Air Force Security Forces and wants me to go Air Force, and the more I think about it, the more it sounds like a good idea. A few jobs in curious about is a Helicopter Gunner or Ariel Gunner, (I know most are crew chiefs. Is the only way I can become a helicopter gunner to be a crew cheif? From what I've heard, this job is very hard to get. Is that true? Why?) Security Forces (What would a dog handler do? Are deployments boring?) Crew Chief (I've heard some awesom stuff. They travel a lot, get to deal with Aircraft all day. I'm just not Sure if I'm mechanical.) and TACP. Is this a mos you ask for at the recruiting office, or like special forces that you ask for during Basic Training? Is it just like any other Tech School? How do I go about getting this job? Can I only be recruited by TACP recruiters? I don't want to be Special Forces, and I've been told that TACP Isn't SF, but closer to infantryman. I know what TACP is and what they do, but I can't figure out if they are special forces, or Infantryman. Is training closer to Infantry rather than SF? Anyways, these are my top three. If you could answer the questions i asked, or add any information that would help. I am in Amazing shape, so physically I am not worried at all. I mostly need info on Ariel Gunner and TACP. Thanks!

  • Air Force TACP?

I have done some research. According to what I've read, there are two types of TACP Airman. The First and most common completes regular TACP training, which is difficult, but not as impossible as CCT or PJ training, and is stationed with an Army Infantry Unit, and deployes and works with them. The second is the guys who do more advanced training such as ranger school and other schools that makes them more Special Operations Orientated, then work with Special Operations. Is that anywhere is the ball park? I saw that TACP is considered SF, but the training itself isn't as demanding as SF, it's more Infantry orientated. Is that correct? What would the difference between Infantry and TACP training be? You are going to work with Infantryman, and practicly be an Army Infantryman. My goal isn't to be some Navy SEAL operator. I just want to have a more intense and interesting job than someone sitting behind a desk. From what I understand, TACP are infantryman who paint targets. I don't want to go in the Army and be an Infantryman. I want to be in the Air Force, but there aren't many fast pace jobs that the training isn't practicly impossible. This seems like it is right in the middle. Am I correct? Also, they can attend Airborne school and other schools which has always been a dream.

  • Combat MOS' in the he Marine Corps?

I am in High School, and definitely want to join th the Marines. It has been something I've wanted to do since I could remember. I've talked to a recruiter, and asked about combat MOS' but I'm not sure how much he is telling the truth. He said that every marine could see combat. I'm sure that relatively true, but I can't imagine an admin seeing much combat. I also asked about a few jobs. My top 4 are Infantryman (I know what they do) Tank Crewman (can someone give me some info about that? What does their training consist of? Fleet life?) Security Forces (really sounds like an interesting job, and possibly what I will pick, I just don't know that much about it. Do they deploy to war zones or usually stay at embassy's? I heard they travel a lot, and that really turns me on to this job) and Combat Engineer (I know they blow things up, and deal with mine fields and building stuff, but what is it they exactly do in the Marine Corps? Are they getting shot at and shooting back, or are they mostly getting rid of explosives? I am very confused about this job. What does the training consist of? What is fleet life like) Like I said, I know what the Infantry does, but slots and contracts are low, and I can't joint just get. Chances are I will pick a different MOS, so I have no problem with that. Any info on the other 3 would really help. My recruiter was a firefighter in the Marines, so he doesn't have first hand accounts to my questions. That's why I asked on here. Thank before hand!

  • What do US Merchant Marines do?

What exactly do they do? Are they Military? Do they have a Uniform? I know they transport goods, and deal with trade, but I know they also have a Military aspect. Is there a training? What type of pay do they receive? If they are attacked, do they have weapons to defend themselves? Do they go to a lot of different places? Could you join the Merchant Marines, from the Unites Stated Marines? Where could I contact a recruiter? Sorry for all the questions, I know very little. Thanks before hand!

  • Why is everyone telling me not to join the Army?

I talked to the Army recruiter today, and took some pamphlets, and all my friends, (in real life and social media) ask me why I would want to join the Army instead of the Marines. Why do a lot of people not Iike the Army as much as the Marines? What sets them apart? Is the Marines more organized? Do they have better jobs? Everything the recruiter was saying sounded amazing. Guaranteed mos, all the opertunites (because I'm going Infantry/Airborne and possible ranger) for my job. Good college benefits, and the Army life seems better than Marine life. I'm just very confused. Why do people say "Don't join the Army." Can someone explain that to me? Thanks!

  • Officer or enlisted in Army Airborne Infantry?

It has always been my dream to serve in the Armed Forces. When I was younger, the branch I wanted to join would change, but I have pretty much narrowed it down to a be a Paratrooper in the Army Infantry. The problem I have currently run into is whether I want to be an Officer, or enlisted. I am in High School, and lately I have been dead set in trying to get into West Point. I am still a lower classman, but the earlier I start, the better. Reality is setting in though. Out of 10,000 that apply, only around 2,000 make it, and those are genius people that are way smarter than I am. I play baseball, and am not in any in school clubs. The only club I do out of school is Civil air Patrol, and I interview Veterans on their war experiences. I'm not stupid, I'm just average. I have, I would say upper upper 80s-lower 90s in classes, and a lower 90s average. I'm not a genius. I'm not all that social or popular, therefor I can't show my leadership skills. I want this more than anything, but I don't know if I should waste my time if there is a way bigger chance that I won't make it. I would without a doubt go enlisted, and have no problem what so ever, but it's been my dream to be an Officer and lead the worlds finest infantryman into combat. It there a chance that I can get in? I dedicate my life to school, and other sports, but don't have a 4.0 GPA. What should I do? Please don't leave immature answers, I just need advice. Thanks!

  • Army reserves question?

I am in High School and am trying to get into West Point. I have top notch grades, I play multiple sports, and I am in multiple clubs. My question is, I am currently reading a book called "in a time of war" and he joins the army the summer between his junior and senior year. He completed basic training in the summer, and during the year went to the army one weekend a month just like every other reservist. He put on his application that he was a PFC in the Army reserves. Can I do this? It's a true story and he obviously did this but can I? If I did this what would happen if I got accepted to West Point? Would that time just transfer to active duty or what? Please explain! This is a serious question that I really need answers for. Thanks.

What type of schooling must I have? I want to photograph Military conflicts around the world. The freelancers from the Bosnian war really inspired me. I want to be an author also, take the photos I take and put them in a book, and write about my experiences. How does freelancing in a warzone work? I want to be in the Military, its after the Military that I want to do this. I appreciate all the answers ahead of time!

  • Air Force pilot question?

I'm looking at options in the US Military. Pilot is one of them. I'm in Civil Air Patrol and have the opertunity to become a pilot there because of trainings. There are 2 major problems though. #1 I have terrible vision #2 I don't know if I'm smart enough. I have taken tons of aerospace classes and it is hard to understand for me. Also I don't want to be a pilot in a war like one we are fighting now. No opposition, just bombing targets. I obsessed with air warfare during WW2. My great grandfather was in the 8th Air Force during WW2, and he is one of my inspirations. I just don't think there will ever be dog fights again, or bombing missions like there was in WW2. Even if we went to war with say China or Russia, I heard a fighter can hit a target from almost a mile away. What do you think? Could I still become a pilot? Does the Air Force offer lazer eye surgery? What will air warfare be like in the future -your opinions-

  • Military question?

I have wanted to serve in the Military since I was in the 4th grade. I'm in High School now and still am having a tough time deciding what to do. My father and uncle were in the Air Force and both my grandfathers were in the Army (One was a green beret the other was a load master) And grandfathers before that in WW2. I have a very large History of military family members all the way to the revolution. Anyways I am coming to you guys, (The Veterans and currently serving) to answer my question. I Am joining for 3 main reasons. #1 is because I love my country and want to give back what it has given me (Good home, Wonderful family, and food on the table every night) #2 I want an adventure, I want to travel and have interesting and fun experiences. #3 I want the Pride of serving in the worlds greatest Military, and I want my kids and grandkids to look up to me just like I look up to my father and grandfathers. The thing is, I don't want to join the Air Force of Navy. There are no jobs that I like. I don't want to be some special forces Rangers or anything like that. I am looking at the Army right now. Airborne infantry seems to draw me to it. I've read all the books and such and done research. My question is what type of person join infantry? I'm not a mean person. I think a lot and worry about what others think about me. I know when its a joke and not, but is Airborne Infantry for me? I don't want to join to kill. You saw my reason. Im confused on whether I would fit in with them

  • What would WW3 look like?

With all the stuff going on in Ukraine, Russian Soldiers on the Border and the downed airliner, what are the possibilities at the moment? Say Russia invaded Ukraine professionally, would that spark WW3 or at least European unrest? What would WW3 be like? Assume Nuclear Weapones ARE NOT used. We all know what that would look like, I want to know what a conventional WW3 would look like. At the moment, who would side with who? Who would win? (Opinion)

  • What was the German publics reaction to the Invasion of Poland (September 1st 1939)?

How did the German/Italian public react to the German invasion of Poland starting WW2? How did they feel about Hitler taking all of Europe and Britian, America, Russia (after they invaded the Soviet Union) getting involved? When was it official that Germany was out of the fight? I am absolutely obsessed with WW2 and 20th century wars. I know a good deal about World War Two. Have read many many books (fiction and non fiction) and there is honestly nothing I want to do more when I'm older than be a WW2 historian and eventually become a professor (after I'm a Marine) I would appreciate all the info you can give. Danke!

  • Air Force security forces vs infantry (all branches)?

I'm in high school and really have to start thinking about careers in the Military and which branches and so forth. I'm in Civil Air Patrol (a youth Air Force group) for about 2-3 years now and love the Military life that I have experienced. I have always been interested in Air Force Security Forces because of my fathers service in AFSF, and the Air Force in general, but on the other side I grew up watching band of brothers and the Pacific where there are the Hero's of infantry ect... But In my mind they are all considered heros. I want a job that I will not look back at and be disapointed with in a sense. I know Infantry guarenteed combat, and Security Forces work with SOF and Infantry but I'm not joining for combat. I'm joining because of #1 tradition, #2 to make a difference, #3 because that's all I've known, and #4 there is nothing more fascinating to me than the Military. I plan to be a history professor after my service because of my other obsession for WW2. In all seriousness, would It be wise to be in Infantry or AFSF while having a family? Would an AFSF experience much combat if in war? I really don't want to live the rest of my life with no legs. I am absolutely now a combat junkie. I would be willing to take the chance though because I love my country and family. I'm leaning towards AFSF. Should I join AFSF or Infantry? Sorry for writing a book haha I just needed to make the point. Sorry for poor grammer, I writing this on my phone.
