Air Force TACP?

I have done some research. According to what I've read, there are two types of TACP Airman. The First and most common completes regular TACP training, which is difficult, but not as impossible as CCT or PJ training, and is stationed with an Army Infantry Unit, and deployes and works with them. The second is the guys who do more advanced training such as ranger school and other schools that makes them more Special Operations Orientated, then work with Special Operations. Is that anywhere is the ball park? I saw that TACP is considered SF, but the training itself isn't as demanding as SF, it's more Infantry orientated. Is that correct? What would the difference between Infantry and TACP training be? You are going to work with Infantryman, and practicly be an Army Infantryman. My goal isn't to be some Navy SEAL operator. I just want to have a more intense and interesting job than someone sitting behind a desk. From what I understand, TACP are infantryman who paint targets. I don't want to go in the Army and be an Infantryman. I want to be in the Air Force, but there aren't many fast pace jobs that the training isn't practicly impossible. This seems like it is right in the middle. Am I correct? Also, they can attend Airborne school and other schools which has always been a dream.

TACP are only SOF (not SF, that is something completely different) if they go through, pass and are accepted to be assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment. They fall under AFSOC for training and funding purposes ONLY. They do not fall under USSOCOM.

99% of TACP will be assigned to an Army Brigade Combat Team HQ element. You will NOT be out in the field calling in airstrikes, you will be in the TOC making sure that those of us on the ground ACTUALLY calling in CAS are not dropping it on our heads. That being said, some do get to go out and play with the rest of us on the ground, but those are not the norm.

ALL Army combat arms learn how to call in CAS and Arty. The subject matter experts are 13F and TACP. The difference between them is a 13F is ACTUALLY in a combat arms platoon doing everything they are doing.

It sounds more like you want to be a 13F than a TACP.

Either one yes you "can" go to Airborne and all the high speed schools, but "can" does not equal will. In order to go to any school in the military, there has to be a need for you to go. It is not like taking a college elective just for the hell of it.

Your understanding of what TACP does is dodgy. You'll be more respected, promote faster and have more opportunity for school in the Army Infantry which sounds like what you want to do anyway. Joining the AF just to attempt be sent to the Army infantry is stupid.

Edit: Or like Wraeth said, 13F.
