What happens if a base runner attempts to steal a base (specifically, 3rd base), no one is on 1st base and the batter gets hit by a pitch?

My brother posed this question for me, and I have no clue what would happen if a runner would try to steal 3rd base, no one is on 1st base, but the batter gets hit by a pitch.

Would the runner still be able to advance to third, or would the runner have to go back to second? I would think it would be the latter, but I am posing this question to see what would happen, having a hard time trying to see what would happen if this situation would happen

Batter takes his base and the runner that stole third on the pitch goes back to second base.

As soon as the batter is hit by the pitch, the ball is dead. All runners return to their original base unless they are forced by the batter to advance one base to award first base to him.
