"Rape is caused not by cultural factors but by the conscious decisions, of a small percentage of the community, to commit a violent crime."

I think the most important thing is to be sensitive to gender issues, open minded and compassionate and speak up against sexism.
I think first of all don't blame the victim - don't say it was her fault - she was drinking or wearing sexy clothes.
Don't simply just believe the accused because he is a man and you are a man - of course he is going to say he is innocent. That does not mean you can't be skeptical in some cases - of course you can.
Be respectful to victims - even here - I don't know how many times victims have come on with a story here and gotten abused by insensitive people here.
Support sensitive policing in your area. If police traumatize victims and make them run away - this does not support justice and there is a big problem here in Canada with prejudice against native women. These women are raped, disappeared and murdered in ridiculous numbers and it has been found in official studies that poor policing due to prejudice was a big factor in these cases and allowed them to go on for too long.
Don't use inflated statistics for false rape accusers and don't automatically think that the reported cases are the only cases - many here like to pretend there is no problem and they absolutely refuse to look at all the evidence because they do not even want to admit there is a problem.
And if you really care support the need for women processing women raped by men, support rape kits being processed in a timely fashion and other methods that make the process easier on the victim so more report and fewer drop the charges.
Thank you for asking this. Even if you don't believe in the rape culture, you can still help the situation by doing this.

Start out by being sure you have one. In most, if not all of the developed world, rape is most definitely not acceptable

If rape is illegal and frowned upon and the rapist is punished by going to jail in your conure you have nothing to worry about

If rape is legal and accepted where you live, lobby for laws that make it illegal and unacceptable.
I live in the U.S. Here rape is not condoned and promoted. It is a felony crime second only to murder.
