Struggling with something. Christians, can you help me?
We are moral agents, right? We have free will. I can sin whenever I darn well please.
Sin is a choice one makes. Satan may tempt us, but he never forces us. But people sin even when the Devil doesn't tempt them.
My question is, when we're in Heaven, what's going to stop us from sinning? The Devil will be long gone in the Lake of Fire. So he wont be around tempting us. But the capability to commit evil will still be there. What's going to stop everyone from using it?
(This is going to sound odd) God's physical presence sometimes doesn't stop people from sinning. In Exodus the freed Hebrew slaves demanded that Aaron make them a golden calf, right in front of Mt. Sinai (While God HIMSELF was physically dwelling there, talking to Moses in person.)

Think of our life on Earth as a sort of boot camp and Earth is a proving grounds. Now consider the parable of the bags of gold. Each servant was entrusted with some money and expected to invest it for the master. In the same way, God gives us life, talents, love, and opportunity and expects us to multiply life and love. God has a plan to prosper us. God gave us the commandments to tell us how to prosper. When we obey them, it behooves us. When we disobey them, it harms us and humanity as a whole, thus diminishing our prosperity. Note that a rich man came to Jesus and said he had followed the commandments all his life; what more must he do? Jesus told him to sell everything he has and give to the poor so that he would have treasure stored up in heaven, then follow Jesus.
My point is, that to the servants who are trustworthy with a little, more will be given them. Those that don't store any 'treasure' up in Heaven will not be given any authority.
Heaven will be more complex than Earth. So many people only describe it in simplistic ways, but how can you describe heavenly concepts using earthly words? Your intelligence now is limited by your brain; if your brain is injured, you lose intelligence. But in Heaven, everyone will have perfect spiritual bodies, so the concept of intelligence will be different, more complex. Those who have stored up treasure will have more intelligence and more ability. Those who never learned to stop sinning but made it to Heaven by the sacrifice of Jesus will be simpletons, innocent as grass. They will be too stupid to sin.

When we are in Heaven, we will be there BECAUSE we sincerely repented of, and rejected, sin in ourselves. By our own invitation and fervent desire, God will correct and perfect our self-control and understanding so that the sin we despise has no power over us. And the New Jerusalem will thus be a state of such peace, joy, plenty and community that sin will have no place there.

The Bible teaches not all go to heaven, in fact many faithful ones will inherit the earth and live forever upon it. Psalms 37:10,11,29

"The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Mt 26:41).
1Cor 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is also a spiritual body.
In this life, God is filtering out those who willfully sin (Heb 10:28-31), including those who reject him. However, in heaven, our bodies will not be the same as in this life. We will not have our "weak flesh" to contend with which entices us to sin.
I don't think your assertion is correct, but I could be wrong. Jesus did say that we would be like angels in the afterlife (Mt 22:30). And we do know that angels could sin (2Pet 2:4). So it may be that we won't have the fleshly temptations to ever sin again, but if one still wanted to, they could; however they would pay a price.

I honestly dont know how it will work. But God tells me in His word that I will like it. I trust Him.

In your hypothetical scenario, if someone in Heaven did start to think they would enjoy sin, God would know it. And the precedent of Satan would be used as justification for God instantly destroying that would-be sinner. After all, God has taken thousands of years to allow Satan enough rope to hang himself, to prove to all intelligent beings in the universe that the way of rebellion brings nothing but suffering and misery, so that He is justified in wiping such rebellion out.
Satan is the legal precedent, in your hypothetical scenario. Therefore, no more sin would be allowed to disrupt God's sinless creation. And, God knowing our hearts and minds, would be sure not to allow into His sinless Heaven anyone who would corrupt it. Hypothetically speaking.

The reason we sin is because all of us have inherited the sinful nature.
Not until we get to heaven will our natures be changed to sinless nature. That does not mean our freedom of choice will be gone. We will still be able to sin if we chose to but no one will do so in view of the terrible consequence that we are all experiencing now along with the appreciation of God's grace.

First of all, I'm an atheist, feel free to hate me, but assuming Heaven exists, theoretically, since the devil wouldn't be able to 'tempt' you to sin, you would feel no urge, and you'd practically live in a Utopian society.
