Why does America need the military, we have the right to bear arms, can't you protect what's yours?

Theres no provision for a standing army in the constitution. Art 1 Sec 8.

The reason 2nd amendment mentions Militia ( citizen soldier) is that EVERYONE has a responsibility to be prepared to defend America.

Gov set up full time Army so they could warmonger all over the world. See our activities under the UN sense WW2. Continuous warfare, even tho no one has EVER invaded the US sense King George.

No, I do not honestly believe that my guns are only so I can protect yourself against tyrannical big government and the criminals. They are also for recreation, putting food on the table, repelling invaders and fighting against insurrection.

And the military is so we can make war in other parts of the world silly!

The primary weapon of those in a Republic is the vote. Hopefully soon the Republic will regain control over the democracy that way.

That is the conservatives major way of disposing of a tyrant like Obama.

I also encourage people to use the mail system and other means of communication with the president and their elected representatives.

But to the issue- it takes 48 hours to activate a National Guard unit, it takes two hours in parts of this state for a law enforcement officer to show up. I do not plan on being with out a way to defend my community or myself for that time period.

Now if the government thinks my ability to defend this community is a threat to their existence- then that government does not have my best interest or the best interest of my community in mind.

You seem to be suggesting that the liberals have every intention of placing a dictatorship in place- well I hope you fail and that failure I hope takes place through peaceful means!

The Constitution gives the United States Government the authority to raise and maintain a standing Army for defense.

You need the military to prevent this country from being invaded by the enemy and you being a sitting duck hiding in your home with your shotgun or hunter rifle. So pay your taxes and appreciate the benefit of having a military.

Initially each state was meant to have a state military that would be called upon by the federal government if needed.

Is it OK for wealthy people to have armed security like say George Clooney? Then why can't people in their own homes? I understand your point, ground to air missiles are not in the attic. But we can surely steal them for an Army post with our automatics. Well someone can...I don't own a gun either.

The constitution of this country guarantees us this right. If you don't like that we have it, there are plenty of other countries that don't have it that you might like better. Try North Korea.

Simple they have access to weapons we don't that are needed to protect our Country.

People with at least half a brain know that is better to stop our enemies before the get here.
