Why aren't cities walled anymore?

I mean seriously, if they were so effective for thousands of years, how come not many major cities are not fortified with walls?

    But in general, there is no military advantage in building a big wall. Esp since artillery, bombs and planes were invented.

    Because the walls were to keep out raiders, and modern artillery has made them absolete.
