Where can I buy sugar-less corn (a.k.a. maize, I think)?

So I've been living in the U.S. for almost eight years now, having moved from China, and I've noticed that the only variety of corn Americans will eat is the sweet kind. Back in China, one of my favorite snacks was a "toasted" corn that is starchy, filling (with a white, sticky sort of texture inside the kernel), and delicious rather than juicy and sweet. I don't know, that was how I grew up eating corn and I still don't really like the sweet corn available in the U.S. In short, I'm yearning for the type of corn that I love. Now, I've heard the sugar-free type that I'm talking about is mainly used as animal feed this side of the Pacific (*shakes head in disappointment*)... But I really don't care as long as it tastes good to me and isn't any less nutritious than the sweet corn kind. Anyone knows a place I could go to for purchasing this type of corn? Thanks!

You may not be able to find different types of corn at the grocery store, but maybe if you check health food stores, or foreign market type stores they always have different types of more exotic produce than what you find in big chain stores.

Check out farmers markets too, there may be someone who grows different types of corn (other than sweet corn) and might have something you'd like.

The two main corns are sweet corn and feild corn, feild corn is what they use to make corn meal and flour and things like tortillas (and animal feed, like you mentioned) in the U.S.

Is that what you're looking for? Maybe see if you can order some feild corn and see if that's the right stuff. They may have it bagged in the grain section of smaller market-stores.

    Good luck!

Not sure where you live, but many cities and towns of any size have Asian markets/grocery stores...if one in your area doesn't carry the corn, they may be able to tell you how to acquire it...
