I'm supposed to babysit tomorrow but...?
I'm supposed to babysit tomorrow but I really don't want to. It's from 6:30 until 3:30 and I still don't know how much I'm getting paid. It's my brothers birthday party and I haven't seen my extended family in ages. I've never babysat for this family before and I have never met this child. She's 2 and I don't know anything else about her. But anyways I just really don't want to babysit her because I'm missing out on seeing family and I'm leaving for vacation the next day. I'm also already exhausted from babysitting a 5 year old the last couple of days. I wasn't paid fairly for all my work (20$ for 6 hours) and it made me angry. How much should I be charging an hour? I'm 14, trained babysitter, trained lifeguard and trained in CPR.

For your age and experience, you should be charging $3-5/hour depending on the age of the child. You did make a commitment but if you don't want to do it, then you shouldn't because it would be unfair to the child to have a babysitter who doesn't want to be there.

$5/hour???? When I was your age I charged $10/hour and people said it was cheap! I guess it depends on where you live/how much other people charge... there's a lot of bratty kids in my town who are younger and less experienced than me who charge $15/hour.

You made a commitment. It doesn't matter if you "want to" or not; you have to follow through on your commitment. How much to charge depends on where you live. At your age, I'd say charge $5 an hour or so.

You made a commitment, stick to it.

Charge at least minimum wage. Maybe $1 over that since you are a little more trained.

How much you should charge depends on where you live. Here you wouldn't even get a job as a sitter, only a mother's helper, because you're only 14.
So what's your question about babysitting tomorrow, just what to charge? Because the rest is just a rant about something you made a commitment to do.
