What is highschool like in Egypt?

Im moving from the US to Egypt, and I'd like to know what school is like there? Students, facilities, sports, teachers, lunch, all that. What's it like compared to the US? And are there lots of people from the US and or other places or is it mostly locals? I'm going to an American school there by the way. Thanks

If you are going to the American International school (over 40 nationalities) or Cairo American college (mostly Americans) then you will find better quality education than public schools in USA with world class facilities. The Egyptian students you will deal with will be upper class and extremely westernized so you wont feel a big difference. In most schools excluding CAC and CBIS I think the majority will be egyptian student.

All International schools in Egypt that are 50,000LE plus are better than the American public schooling system and teach everything from SATS, ALEVELS and IB.

I lived in both America and Egypt and went to school in both. If you need help finding schools let me know and Ill give u everything I know. I was in this situation 3 years ago now I am done and studying in uni in USA. Leave a comment if you need some help ill check it later.

    Good luck

Hello I was in a similar situation to you 5 years ago I moved from the UK to Cairo. and although I went to a british school and all the teachers and from england, nothing about school there is the same. All the kids at my school are Egyptians because all the foreigners left.

They always talk in arabic and stuff and their accent really different from American / british accents, so you will defiantly be and outcast for a while and people will be unfamiliar with your accent ( if it's strong, like mine)

In terms of faculties, that just depends which school you're moving to btw if it's ais then it's good and if it's cac it's amazing and in cac most students are from America (Y)

Anyways it really does Varey depending on which school you're going to. I suggest as soon as you're here you go look around before school starts, that's what I did. But I'm telling yu it's gonna take a while to get used to it, good luck. It took me a while although I moved when I was 11 and now I'm 16 so yea

    ^^^^ similar situaion as mine..

I went to CISE (canadian international school of egypt). I didnt want to go to an american high school because I wanted to be with egyptians. Well, it was hard, not knowing arabic that well, but my senior year, IT WAS THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE. omg, I love egypt. I moved there in 9th grade and went back to the US freshman year of college in 2010.

high school is pretty easy at CISE. It really is. I think you should go there cause well, its easy and you can get easy grades. CAC and CBIS are harder, a lot harder actually, so if you want to be studying a lot, go to those schools. I went to CISE and it was fine. THere are difficult classes like physics and economics, so whatever...

I went to egypt to experience egyptians, not be with more close-minded ignorant americans so get your butt in places where youll be uncomfortable. Thats what i always do. But from what i heard from CAC, everyone is snobby. I mean, thats what I heard.

Im telling you, youll have the best time of your LIFE there. I did. Go to sharm el sheikh when you make some friends there. If youll be living on Road 9, youll be goin there a lot cause its like a strip mall of open cafes, food stores and shisha places...

god, youre so lucky.....I hate xplaining all of these things.....

ppl in those private schools are super rich. I had a friend who would go to european countries on some weekends just for fun with his family. They have HUGE villas and maids and money and cars. It was awesome!!! Egyptians are very nice. I didnt have a good first year cause I was so insecure about myself. Egyptians joke around a lot. Like,

A LOT. I hated it. I didnt like it cause you couldnt say anything back. Teachers there are foreign and egyptian btw.

dont forget to get drunk on feloucas on the nile river. You can bring whatever you want on them. Alcohol, weed, hash, whatever you want. Just dont have it open to the guy who's rowing the boat, cause he will get mad cause hes muslim.....

i can go on forever and ever about egypt.
