Land, conquest and resources: Germany and Japans reason for going to war and sparking the Second World War.
Land and conquest: the expansion of the Roman Empire, the expansion of the Mongol Empire, Tamerlane, etc. Korea and Vietnam (both from the North's perspective of wanting to gain control of their respective southern neighbors). The Falklands War.
Resources: The Iraq invasion of Kuwait, leading to the Gulf War. The Chaco War.
Religion: any of the wars during the Reformation such as the Thirty Years War or the Three Kingdoms. The Crusades (in the Middle East or the ones in northern Europe). The Muslim conquests, predating the Crusades, whereby a massive empire was carved out of Africa and parts of Europe leading to such things as the Reconquista.

The Crusades were not about religion, although it was marketed that way. The Crusades was about obtaining land, wealth and what not. Remember, Byzantine Emperor Alexios had asked for assistance in reclaiming land lost in Asia (Asia minor, Levant, etc...). Though, Alexios did not really trust that the Europeans would keep their word of returning all the lands back to the Byzantine Empire.
Moreover, a Crusade meant that knights would fight a common cause rather than themselves.
Even during the Fourth Crusades, Venice played a double game, pretending that it will provide ships for the crusaders to attack Egypt. Problem was that Venice was a merchant city and had good trade relations with the Muslims. So they scammed the Crusaders into debt and force them to attack Constantinople to repay their debt (using the loot as repayment), plus Constantinople was a trade rival.
