Experiment or Escape?
I'm writing a story and my characters are currently kidnapped and locked in a dungeon. Two of them are handcuffed together, (that is relevant to what happens in either options) and I can't decide whether to have my characters escape straight away with mass destruction in tow or be stuck in there a while with people knocking them out and experimenting on them.
The experiment option will give them weird powers that they have to use to eventually escape, but the escape option gets them out before any major changes can take place.
The two main characters have already been in a few experiments but not enough to notice anything really different with themselves and if they escape now, nothing's going to majorly change in them for ages if they escape now to allow time for the experiments already completed to gain strength and foundation in their bodies.
Which direction should I go?

Both directions; write an interactive story! It will be fun and you will get double the writing practice!

Make more experiments happen to notice changes. Then have them use the powers to escape. It would be much more interesting. One important aspect a writer needs is patience. If you drop the action right away, it doesn't give the reader time to delve into the plot.
