Are my fish young?

I have 3 fish. I bought two black ones today. The massive goldfish on the left is my adult fish and one of the black ones is next to it on the right. They're the same species/breed but just different colours, the black ones are tiny compared to my adult so does that mean they're still babies? Also they keep chasing the adult female goldfish around but not hurting her. Are they trying to mate even though they don't have tubercles? Help me please. Thanks!

    Yes, they're babies.

The average goldfish sold in a pet store is only about 2 to 3 months old. A full-grown goldfish is a foot or so long. It takes it a few years to reach that size.

I wouldn't call them "babies" anymore, but yes, they're probably still young. I remember reading that goldfish do most of their growing in the first year, so you want to make sure you have plenty of space! I don't know how big your tank is, but I wouldn't suggest anything short of 150gals when they all get larger. It might even be a good idea to upgrade to a 75gal asap.

The chasing thing it probably just about dominance. It happened when I added a new goldfish to my tank too, but it stopped shortly afterwards. As long as they're not harming or constantly harassing, I think it'll be just fine.

    Good luck!
