I'm 18 weeks pregnant, and have a UTI. My doctor prescribed nitrofurantoin an antibiotic 100MG. I'm really not comfortable with taking.?
Has anyone else pregnant ever take this, and if so was everything fine with your baby after birth. I also don't want the infection to get worse. I'm sure the doctor wouldn't prescribe something she thought would be of great risk, but I'd feel better knowing from someone who has taken before during pregnancy. Thanks in advance.

I had a HORRIBLE uti while pregnant that I discovered late into my pregnancy that was a factor of me going into premature labor. I am pretty positive I was prescribed the same antibiotic which is safe while pregnant. It's best to get it cured as soon as possible because it will cause complications and the longer it is untreated the worse it can get.

The antibiotic should be fine I've taken some while pregnant for staff and I have a very healthy and happy 1 year old now. The uti if it gets out of hand can cause problems with pregnancy such as early labor. Go ahead and take the antibiotics it's more of a risk to your baby if you don't.

It's safe to take antibiotics during pregnancy. But untreated uti's can lead to miscarriage. So you need to start the antibiotic right away. You have an infection in your body that can cause a miscarriage. I don't know why you would refuse treatment.
