How often do you still buy actual CDs?

I like having the actual CD album as opposed to it being digital, but problem is there aren't really a lot of cd stores and places like Walmart and target (that sells CDs) have a very hit and miss selection. Although, the prices at those stores are cheaper than the prices to iTunes most of the time, believe it or not. So, when you want to but an album, do you just do it digitally (more convenient) or do you go and buy the hard copy (better priced)? Or do you just pirate it?

I end up usually having to buy it digitally, since a lot of older albums I want aren't in stock or even in the selection. Some are, most aren't.

And if I do buy it digitally I can burn it to a cd, but importing a hard copy cd to iTunes is much easier than having to burn the cd, print out cd cover, cut it out, all that. What do you think?

My process is this: I listen to various songs for a period of time and compile a list of the ones that are keepers. Once I have a substantial enough list, I pirate the mp3s and then I steal a blank CD from my work and burn them onto it so I can listen in my car. I also download them to my mp3 player, which is what i listen to at home, usually.

The only thing I buy that are not digital are videogames(because you can resell them) but is way easier to download music and movies digitally, either legally(itunes) or ilegally(thepiratebay) you can have over thousand of songs and movies(if ilegally make sure you have anti virus on) butt if you still like to buy cd's for collection you should go to a music only store instead of walmart or target

  • I always buy the CD. MP3's contain roughly 1/10 the audio information and quality.

All the time. This audiophile will not start downloading anything until the sound quality of the downloadable files has surpassed Super Audio CD sound quality.

Never. Physical media is too cumbersome for me anymore. I used to love full CD racks... now I think they are somewhat unsightly.

Bandcamp lets you download media in FLAC... about 90% of my recent music purchases have been done in this way.

The only way I buy a CD is when I really really really love the band.
