Why would someone who is pregnant expect to land a job?

Perhaps she lands the job (teaching) and takes maternity leave almost straight away! What employer, other than some tardy government department, in their right mind would employ a woman who is obviously pregnant? Then what type of woman cries discrimination because she didn't get the job after she has revealed her pregnancy? This same one that gave in to her threat and gave her the job she didn't initially get I guess.

I would say, "Sorry princess! You slipped up! Maybe a candidate that isn't going to be a liability can now move into that slot. See ya!"

Update:

More qualified or not, she should be aware that she is costing them money straight up and shouldn't get her nose out of joint if they push her aside.

Because she's the best one for the job and a few months without her is better than not hiring her at all? Let me guess, you got passed up for a job because a pregnant woman was more qualified and now you're bitter?
