Purchased an item at a well name furniture store, and warranty was more than half the price of item.?

My husband went to get a tablet at a local furniture store. They also sell computers and t.v.'s. They had a good sale on a tablet. It was $258.00. When he got home I looked at the receipt. They told him a 1 year warranty was included. But his receipt says different. The added $130.00 for a 1 year warranty. I told my husband that was too much. That's more than half the price of the tablet! That's crazy!!! My husband wasn't feeling too well, so I think that's why he didn't double check the receipt before he left. I have never paid half the price of an item on a 1 year warranty. Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Its a common strategy for all sorts of companies. They advertise a very low price so they can say there product is lower than their competitor's price. Its a true statement, but then they add something extra that you don't have a choice of buying, because it "comes with the product." So they have low prices, but they charge you for stupid stuff like warranties or "maintenance" on the product, and so you end up having to pay a lot more than what they advertise the price to be.
