Is laughter in an argument a form of anger?

Why do people "laugh" during an argument? It always seem like when they do, they want to throw a punch..

I've laughed in arguments because I couldn't believe what was just said. I never laughed to get ready to punch someone though, whoever is doing that is either an actor in a movie or a repeat visitor to anger management/jail.

Its a form of anger release without the satisfying crunch of broken bones.
