what's wrong with my sky plus box?

it's started to do funny things, sometimes all it'll show is a screen saying the box isn't receiving a satellite signal even tho there's nothing wrong with the dish, any of the cables, the box (as far as i can tell), or the TV, and if i try to record a programme on one channel while i'm looking at another it'll show that screen on that channel and the recording will fail, it'll let me record a programme on a channel i'm looking at but if i try to do that i can't look at any other, it'll show me that screen again on every channel except the one i'm trying to record something on.. i guess i'll have to reset the software, how do i do that? and if that's not the way to make it work the way it's supposed to, what should i do?

You need Sky's help to solve this one. You could try a forced download of software from satellite. This is not the same as a reset, and requires patience as it takes several minutes.

dave that's what the TV keeps telling me to do, it says 'to fix this go to this web page', that web page tells me that i need to switch the box off and on again, it fixes nothing, it still won't let me record something while i'm looking at something else or look at another channel while i'm recording something else

JM can you tell me how that's done? if i can get the answer here i'd rather get it from here in stead of looking thru sky's web site for information that might not be there

Hey, sorry to hear your having issues. Sky boxes need a reset now and again :/ to reset, you can switch it off at the wall for a couple of minutes, and give it a minute to boot up once power is switched back on. Should be ok once that's Done! Hope it works!
