If only atheist existed would this be a better world?

No. Don't blame religion, blame man. Man will always be at war, they just pick a reason: religion, land, resources, race. Religion is only one of the reasons for war. Just look at WW1 and WW2, that wasn't because of religion was it?

Would it be a better place? Yes, without any doubt whatsoever. Would it be a perfect place? No. There would still be wars. But we wouldn't have people out beheading and torturing one another because they have different mythologies. One thing religions have always had in common also is making it easier to overcome a person's natural empathetic desire to NOT kill one another. If you can convince someone that "God" or "Gods" wants them to kill the other guy they're more likely to do it. Just read the old testament. A good portion of it is just trying to justify genocide in stealing the "promised land".

I personally do not think most wars are the result of religion. Sure, religion makes a nice dressing and is a sure fire way to get people willing to go to war but most wars can actually be traced to more economic reasons.

The lack of peace in the world can be traced to stupidity and meanness. If religion was somehow eliminated, the stupid would just find some other banner to rally behind.

There would be wars even if no humans existed....yes, even chimpanzees hunt down and kill rival troupes. Hominids war. It's in the genes.

Anyone who believes that is a fool. Wars aren't fought for religion or faith, the vast majority are fought over land or money. I don't think atheists are impervious to greed.

Of course not! People seem to like destroying things. Even the "morally superior" here seem to want God to destroy all who don't agree with them. God's behaviour is just a reflection of ours. We invented Him after all.
