Can somebody explain the situation in Gaza?

So, apparently Israel and the Palestinians don't like each other for some reason or something, and there's also a guy named Hamas who has something to do with it. Someone, please educate me on this.

    Gaza is a place... the Gaza Strip along the Mediterranean Sea.

    Hamas refers to the Terrorists who are messing things up there in Gaza.
