Why do people honor military people but not the ones who protected their families while they were gone?

Update:

I'm talking about the everyday men who stayed home and worked so the family could continue to have a roof over their head. You know, like there were 3 sons...2 of them were sent off and one had to stay to pay the bills.

Doesn't seem like they give any thanks to the working son who looked after home. He took on burdens of his own. I don't see no discounts given or recognition.

A non-military man asked that when he saw places give discounts on services.

Military people are the ones that fight that most of us wouldn't have the guts to do. I could say the same for people who protected their friends and families from robberies and murder.

Do you mean the SWAT team that broke down the door at 3AM and shot the family poodle (because it looked aggressive) and terrified everyone for hours because some Sheriff had an informant that verified his hunch....so he didn't need a warrant.

    Those cops?
