Tagging up on 1st base?

If there is a runner oin 1st base and the batter hits a fly ball...runner on 1st tags up, batter gets to first...whats happens to the runner on 1st?

    I assume you're asking what happens when two runners are on the same base. The answer is nothing - right then, anyways.

    There are many who think that if there are two runners on the same base, one is automatically out. That's not the case. However, one of the runners is probably in jeopardy.

    If the fly ball is caught, the batter is out, and the runner can stay on 1B. If the fly ball is not caught, then the runner who started at 1B is in a force situation and must reach 2B before either he or 2B is tagged.

    Realistically, the runner would go half way so if the ball is caught, he can retreat, and if it is not, he has time to get to 2B.

    Nothing, the batter is out the second the ball was caught. He can go anywhere he likes, no effect whatsoever on the other runners.

    The batter is out wnd the runner goes back to the base.
