Unfortunately, this woman will be the victim of labyrinthine gun laws that vary significantly solely because of a line drawn on a map somewhere. Nevertheless, she DID break the law, and she WILL face the consequences. Should she? Not to my mind. Will she? Probably.

But if she is convicted, there's a good chance that the NRA, NAGR, GOA, and every other gun rights group will be pushing for her case to be heard in SCOTUS.

And if SCOTUS realizes that these laws are so overdone and ridiculous that otherwise law-abiding citizens are being turned into felons due to honest misunderstandings, maybe there will be a change.

Consider this: you're driving along at 55 miles per hour. All of a sudden, you see blue lights. You're pulled over and arrested because the speed limit was 25 miles per hour and the sign was down. You were unaware of the changes in the law, but you are still cited for reckless driving. (Not a perfect analogy, but similar enough)

In that case, you aren't even becoming a felon, generally. But you're cited for breaking a law that YOU DID NOT REALIZE WAS IN FORCE.

I can definitely see gun-friendly judges pointing out how ludicrous it is that one yard west of the NJ border she was abiding by the law, but one yard east of that border she was now a felon. We can only hope for more conservative justices.

I pity her seems like she is being made as a scapegoat to media and politics

She properly acknowledge a firearm with in her car to officer out of respect and courtesy

She also has been a victim of robbery twice

Some officers DO NOT CARE about theft unless it involves their family or themselves from experience they do nothing but file a police report.... hell someone tried to steal my car they took over 1 hour to arrive and did not even take fingerprints .... I scared the idiot off he even left a social security card and some sweaty socks,,,,

Nevertheless hope someone in the judicial system over there realize they are making a mistake lets see if they can be mature enough to admit it ....

The PA legislature should declare NJ driver's licenses are not valid in PA and fine/jail all NJ drivers illegally operating vehicles in PA. And maybe even charge them $100 for a rider on an NJ license so that people with NJ licenses can legally operate a vehicle in PA.

Discretion on the part of either the prosecutor or the judge would have been appropriate, but good sense isn't common anywhere, and certainly not in New Jersey. Unfortunate.

Feel bad, but know your dang laws. 30 seconds of research before embarking over state lines while packing, whole situation avoided.

So many people are ignorant to laws and statutes, it amazes me that more aren't in similar situations.

Source(s): Take a few seconds and figure out the legalities before doing anything firearms related.

I hate to hear things like this, but it is best we gun owners stay clear of those states run by liberal gun control bigots that think the Constitution is a worthless piece of paper..

Yes, she did in fact break the law, stupid as the law may be and unlenient as the NJ judge may be, she still broke the law. Why anyone would willingly live in, or visit NJ is beyond my grasp.
