All AV programs let malware through. Visit the Avast forum and see the many requests for help for infected systems https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=4.0
.Windows defender and Adaware are very poor security programs
Your best bet is to reinstall the operating system, your machine should have a recovery partition or recovery discs.
For the future, do not rely on programs that are continually playing catch up to new viruses.
Use a program like sandboxie or appguard. The first runs your computer in an isolated environment, the latter simply blocks new exe files running unless you tell it to. Both these programs do not recognize malware, but prevent malware from infecting ,

Since you are running Windows 8.1 your Windows Defender is the same as Microsoft Security Essentials which is an antivirus program. You also have another antivirus program installed called Avast. You cannot have 2 antivirus programs running at the same time and expect things to work properly. Uninstall one of the programs.

No way! Windows defender and Avast prevents 101% of virus!
There's no way of virus in your pc!
But installing more than 2 anti-malwares in a single pc makes your pc run slow!
Better remove Ad-ware! :)
