How can I send a pdf file as an attachment in a way it cannot be altered by recipient?

Update:

Hi,

I've saved a Word doc as a pdf using Adobe Reader to send as an email attachment to someone.

How can I make it so that it cannot be altered by the recipient?

Many thanks in advance for replies :)

Update 2:

PS - I have Adobe Reader X

You need a program to do it. Acrobat 11 is expensive (not the free reader).

There is a very good program call "BullZip PDF printer". It is free (google it). You can set both owner and user passwords on the PDFs that this program creates.
