ALS ice bucket challenge question?

I want to understand this challenge. I understand that like you nominate someone for this challenge and then they have 24 hours to dump a bucket of water on their head or else they have to donate 100 dollars to the foundation. But I'm confused. People are nominating others through instagram, who is keeping track of all of the nominations. What happens if you don't do the challenge? And you don't donate the money? Do you HAVE to donate? Or is it like you should? Someone please explain all the details and how this all started? Thankyou

You are not obligated to do the challenge or donate but donations are appreciated. Nominations are not monitored and it's really just a trend for a "good cause." (I put that in quotes because everybody is doing the challenge and almost nobody is donating so in reality it makes almost no money for the cause.) Basically they're telling you that you should but again, nobody is forcing you, especially if you're on a tight financial budget like I am. I myself didn't do the challenge or donate because I don't have money or the desire to dump ice water on my head. I hope this helps!

How many people can you nominate at once after you have taken the challenge yourself.

no one is keeping track except maybe god if you are a believer....it would be on your conscience if you screwed over people with a really bad disease.
