    Not a chance.

    Modern air power makes static defences (i.e.: WW1 trenches) nothing but deathtraps for ground troops.

    Especially in light of massed bombing raids, bunker buster bombs, etc & etc.

    In the modern battlespace, a soldier that stands still is a soldier who gets dead, fast.

    No. The warfare would be totally different. Different tactics, different more powerful weapons, different enemy.
