Do you own a Firearm then when fired surprises even you with it's accuracy?
Like comparing a full size pistol to a different full sized pistol, but one's accuracy is dramatically different?
I've been shooting for 7 years now regularly, and I'm a decent shot for just a hobbyist. I would come in last in a competition if it was for hand guns ;)
My Taurus 845, poly full sized .45acp is not normal. My other full size pistols I'm lucky to come withing 2" of bulls eye at 7 yards with an occasional center hit. The Taurus I can eradicate the center of the target, why is that? It's all factory parts, nothing fancy and out shoots my S&W M&P's or even my GP-100 Revolver with the 6" barrel.
To be honest I"m afraid to shoot it to much, don't want to wear it out since it is a Taurus ;) And it's to much fun to hand it to a friend and watch them hit the bulls eye on the first couple shots!
Sorry about the THEN in the Title. Posted using Sype and didn't notice the error. Was suppose to say 'Do you own a Firearm that when fired surprises even you with it's accuracy?'

As a handloader and bullet caster I have an advantage a lot of shooters do not have. The ability to tune a custom load for the gun I'm shooting until I find the right combination of primer, case, powder, powder charge, bullet weight, bullet style and size and alloy. Keeping all of that in mind, I have a "pet load" for target 38 special. It's 2.5gr Bullseye, CCI primer, and an H&G 50 bullet poured out of straight wheel weight. This load works great in almost every 38 Special handgun that I own. Until I bought a NOS S&W Model 14-4 6". That same load that gives me acceptable accuracy in 90% of the 38's that I own shoots sub MOA at 25 yards in the Model 14-4. It's like a lazer beam accurate. So I started trying other loads in it, it shoots just about everything that well. There's a reason Smith and Wesson calls those guns their Target Masterpiece. I've been offered close to twice what I paid for it after a few have shot it, it;s not for sale....at any price.

I have a Thompson Center Contender i've owned for twenty years that still amazes me with how accurate it is. One of the barrels for it that really is a tack driver is the 14" .223 barrel. I also have a 7x30 Waters barrel that is very accurate. With the .223 barrel on it and a 2-6 power scope I hunt prairie dogs at up to 200 yards. Not bad for a pistol.

When you find such guns KEEP THEM. It is very, very, I mean extremely rare to find one that just can't miss. I have a Ruger Security Six that I can shoot like the Cowboy movies.
For the most part I expect a gun to shoot where I am holding the sights. The ones that don't I get rid of. But, the rare ones like that Ruger, your Taurus, how can you put a value on that ? That confidence is rare sir.

Nope. I have been surprised by how inaccurate a Glock 22 is when my son shoots one. We always pi** him off by saying that if he was shooting at you with a Glock, just hide behind a 1 gallon milk jug and he can't hit you from 10 feet away. He shoots running armadillos from 30 feet while on moving ATV with his Springfield XD.

My Smith 36 is very accurate for a 1 7/8" snub-nose. It can hit a water bottle at 100 yards away.

Yes, my synthetic stocked Marlin Model 60. I paid less than $150 for it new at the LGS, and it shoots anything into a single hole, 3/4 inch, at 100 yards.

No. Unless you have a really piece of s*** cheapo gun you would be hard pressed to find one that wasn't capable of more accuracy than the person holding it. Unless the person holding it is some sort of master class marksman.

Firearms are like golf clubs, some fit you better and work better for you than others. When you find one that fits and works well for you, use it. Don't worry about wearing it out.

You should not be owning a gun if you don't know the difference between Its and It's.
