How could I ask a question in a selected category?

Yahoo threw away the old version of Y!A and created a new version. The old version was much better.

In the new version you cannot select a category when you ask a question. But, after asking, you can move your question to a different category, if you want.

As mentioned, you can MOVE your question after posting, using the "Edit Category" button at the top at the end of the designation of where your question currently is. This is a new feature that WE (the users) asked for and staff implemented. We wanted to be able to move our questions at any time - and now we can.

Things that may help your question to appear in the correct category to begin with is to START from that category when asking, and put some KEYWORDS in the question that might be relevant to the category. Like "POLL" for P&S or "RELIGION" for R&S, for example.

As to answering your OWN question - that is now allowed by staff so if we find our own answer someplace else later on, we can post it here for reference for other users. However, be aware that your answer posted here MUST BE an answer, not just a simple comment. Posting a comment here as an answer, even by the asker, is a violation.

Finally, if you do answer your own question, you can't choose your answer as Best Answer. That ability does not exist.

You can't specify the category. You submit your question, and the computer selects a category. If you disagree, use the Edit Category button to move your question to the category you want it in.

You can move it after asking.

Type your heading in the rectangular box top right where it says wwhatsup? click details under that, enter your details click submit After posting if you hadn't chosen the category and the category it's in is inappropriate click "edit category" above browse for the category you want if you don't see the category click all top left you should see it then click then submit. Always remember to return and choose best answer to your question that way you get 3 points back of the 5 points it cost you to ask.
