Guns, what do you think when bad things happen.?
I know this bad but does anyone else share this feeling I get that we are witnessing evolution in action when some kid kills themself or their instructor or their parent or their sibling when their parents make decisions such as: Yeah, my 9 year old really needs to shoot an Uzi? or Yeah, my house is safer for my children when I leave loaded guns in house?
I know it is not new. I know that today's 24 hour news cycle desperately grasps onto every "juicy" sound bite they come upon. I grew up in a house with guns and I own guns. I agree that there should be nothing wrong with responsible gun ownership. My point is that there are these very unfortunate cases where parents fail to demonstrate responsibility and those parents learn a very hard lesson in the very hardest way.

You need to realize that things like this aren't new... you are only hearing about dramatic incidents more frequently because of the mainstream media.
There is nothing wrong with safe, responsible gun ownership. I would also suggest taking this question to one of the political sections, instead.
Add: It's a shame that for every 5 responsible gun owners, there is one idiot who somehow owns one. Do you remember hearing about this incident? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/05/us/05gun.html?_r... My husband is a marksman and used to teach a gun safety course. Regarding our own kids, we wouldn't let a child that young handle a gun at all. But, even under close supervision, freak accidents can happen and then of course they are headline news.

Why so many across the US judge others by their experiences, by the way they live their lives. Still shocks me. The US is huge, there are many different cultures, ways of life across this nation, for many. Guns/weapons are a daily part of life. They grew up that way, their kids grow up that way, it's been that way for generations. We tend to forget these people, they are not all over the net, they are outside every day, surviving, feeding their families,

It's not evolution. It's ignorance. People that play with guns simply don't know what they're capable of. Knowledge is power. If kids were raised being taught to respect guns and to not play with them, we would probably see a decrease in these incidents.

A loaded gun can save your life and the lives of your children.
Asking an intruder to please leave you and your family alone does not always get good results.
