My Laptop wont charge?
I just got this new laptop about two weeks ago. Its a dell inspiron 15 (i think...) and I just moved into college. It charged fine back home, but now, here, it wont. Sometimes there is a message saying something like 'check to make sure everything is plugged in' and 'make sure it (the charger) has enough power to charge the laptop' (along those lines). Its plugged in right, and it is the right charger. I need my laptop for school. Any ideas what to do

Well the obvious you have a power problem.
Whether its within the cord, or the power supply within your computer remains to be seen.
Best is to isolate it.
youll need another power supply cable - and just go "borrow" one from best buy or walmart..or get one from radio shack. You will buy to return it before the 14 day return policy date exprires - but you need to see if its the power cable.
If that works...then call the company you bought it from and ask them to send you a new cable for free -- its still under warranty.
You could take it to best buy or staples and have them try a different cable.
If the cable doesnt work - you need to check the power supply.
For that I would contact the manufacturere and youll probably have to send it back to them.
If I were you and if its still under warranty - I would just return it for a replacement.
You said its only been 2 weeks...they should replace it if you bought it from a store.
Best I can do without being there to check it myself.
I had a samsung tablet that had a bad power charging cable.
They sent me a new one in 2 weeks it took for me to get it.
But since your computer should still be under warranty...I wouldnt bother waiting.
Problem is if you have important data on the thing.
for that reason I would send it back to the company to have them swap out power supplies.
Because if you remove the seal trying to get to the hard drive to put it into another computer you will void the warranty.
If you bought it two weeks ago from someone else - and it has no warranty..then by allmeans open it up and you should be able to test the power supply and get a new one,
and/or pop your hard drive in an enclosure and use it like an external drive

Remove battery. Inspect battery to ensure there is not one of those new film coverings over the battery contacts, that come on new batteries. Remove film, reinstall battery, it should charge. If it dont charge, go into your control panel and check configuration.
