Is plywood thick/hard enough for dance room flooring?

I was wondering because I want an inexpensive dance room at home. I was thinking if I use thick enough phywood and put fake marley on top it should be fine. Will it?

Update:

It would be on top of carpet by the way.

3/4" tongue & groove plywood glued and nailed down to 2" x 12" floor joists set 24" apart is what a standard floor is made out of. You can put whatever floor covering you want over that but I would not use any kind of tile. It's not as solid as a concrete floor but it will be plenty good enough for dancing on. There will be a very small amount of noticible 'give' in a wooden floor like this. You could stiffen the floor up by putting the floor joists closer together and/or doubling up the plywood layer.

    edit:

Why not pull the carpet up?
